Muscular Dystrophy Association Dollar Day Campaign

Today... Labor Day 2008... I gave up everything to give back to my favorite organization... the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Grand Prairie @ Lone Star Park. From before 7am until 6pm... I stuffed pledge envelopes... got them ready for mailings... and did the grueling task of answering on camera phones as the telethon was broadcasted on NBC5 in the DFW area. This was my 5th or 6th year volunteering and I LOVE doing it. There is a new campaign that is growing internationally called MDA Dollar Day. As I complete tri season and start my quest for Boston... I will once again start rasing money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association... and you can help. All it takes is one dollar... a day, a month, and year... whatever it is... it all goes toward MDA research. You can find the link on the top right corner of my blog to donate. I hope you can help me in spreading the word and helping Jerry Lewis' kids :)

To Whom This May Concern:

Muscular Dystrophy Association is reaching out to individuals of all ages and from all walks of life, seeking support and nationwide participation in a unique, grassroots campaign called MDA “Dollar Day.” This campaign is based on two solid principles: that every person in this world is important, regardless of their status and position; and that everybody, no matter how young or old, can make a difference witha simple gift of kindness!

Our purpose is to win battle against Muscular Dystrophy and to unite the country in doing so. With a gift of just $1 per person, 1-day of the year (Friday before Thanksgiving), we can do just that! We are inviting and encouraging everyone in America to join us in this extra-special effort and to make a difference in the lives of those who have ALS, Duchenne, Becker or one of the many other types of neuromuscular diseases. These individuals can’t stop or change what’s been forecasted in their future, but together, maybe we can! Every person’s participation, even with just $1, strengthens the odds in making this possible!

Please join us each year during the month of November with your gift of $1 for MDA “Dollar Day.” Our muscle-up posters, stickers, pamphlets, and fact sheets are available on our website www.mdadollarday.org - The process is simple, accessible to all, and can be easily implemented into any school, church, business, and organization. Simply make a personal contribution to this campaign or collect a dollar from your each of your friends, family members, classmates, co-workers or customers, then send that special gift to MDA “Dollar Day” by phone / internet / US Mail. (see our web site for more information)We are seeking endorsements, sponsorships, announcements, publications, contributions, matching funds or any type of assistance that will help in creating widespread visibility and a high level of public interest.

Call your local MDA office today or signup at www.mdadollarday.org and become involved in leading the way. We are asking for just $1 from each person and will greatly appreciate any amount you may choose to contribute. Together, we can all make a big difference in a very special way!
