Busted...

So I'm out running with my buddies from Pacers of Silver Spring on a fun run Thursday nite... and well I got busted... well ok not me... my right knee. I was running with Lanie, Karen, and Eddine; three of my running buddies... being their leader for the Alaska Loop route when BAM... the toe of my shoe hit a crack in the sidewalk on the first hill of Eastern Ave. I went down hard... hitting both knees and the left the side of my face on the concrete... it really hurt. I told the other three girls to go along and I would back to Pacers myself but they refused... esp when they saw all the blood oozing out of knees. All four of us walked about a mile back to Pacers where Lanie, one of the girls who works at a local hospital in DC, took care of wounded moi! Karen want over to Whole Foods to get some more first aide stuff... since Pacers didn't have quite enough to patch me up... and Eddine just hung around to help Lanie in any way she could. When Lanie said I would have to go to the hospital to get stitches most likely... it scared the living daylights out of me.

Well... yesterday... Friday morning... my mom took me over to the ER at Holy Cross Hospital... which wasn't too far from the house. They sent me to Express... since it was just a minor thing that had happened the nite before. Well... we had to wait an hour just to enter the Express room. Once I got in... the doctors cleaned both my knees off and took me to get XRayed. Good news is... nothing was broken or fractured... only meaning I needed stitches. The medicine shot they used to numb my knee hurt like crazy when they poked me all of 3 times. I was squeezing my mom's hand and I still screamed like a baby when they poked me. Then came time for the stitching... 14 to be exact.

So what does this all mean now... knee brace on my right knee and on crutches for the next 2 weeks... at least... and of course no training of any sort! It will be hard but I'll survive and push through!

More to come...
