Track Workouts ROCK while Rain SUCKS...

Saturday was a very productive training day. I met up with my buddy and fellow blogger Matt for a track workout at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. The workout... 1600, 1200, 1000, 800, 600, and 400. For starters it was hard workout and the goal times Matt's trainer posted were unbelievably fast... there was no way I was going to accomplish them. I was most proud of my mile time of 7:22... fastest one I've done in soooooooooooo long and my 400 with a time of 1:40 right on the dot. Matt on the other hand totally rocked his towout with a 6:34 mile and 1:32 400. All in all a tough but good track workout and it was nice finally getting to run with Matt!

Sunday on the other hand sucked like no other. The plan was to ride 50 then run 6. Well thanks to the stupid rain the only thing I was able to do was 30 miles on the bike. My dad and I got 20 in before the rain started to just come down like there was no tomorrow and rode the last 10 in the pouring rain. I realized how scary it was to ride in not just light rain but heavy rain. We rode back to the cars... drove home... changed into dry cycling clothes in time for it start pouring again... stupid no good rain! In less then 8 weeks I ride the Seagull Century on the Eastern Shore with dad and have gotten nothing more then 40 in for the season... how the heck am I supposed to do 100? Next Sunday regardless of the weather I'm doing 50... I need to... and will do it!

More to come...

I wish we'd get some of that rain here in Austin. And by the way, you are one heckuvan athlete. Tris, marathons, 8ks. .. Great track workout as well. Your body will remember what its like to run at that speed in a future race. They call it muscle memory. (Just don't let your muscles get dementia between now and then, ok?).

I really enjoyed running with you on Saturday. Hopefully I can return the favor and help you out during one of your long runs as you prepare for Philly.

Wow! Fast mile, lady, especially since it was part of a longer workout!
