great giveaway, but knock on wood, that's probably one part of my life that i don't have an embarrassing story... yet. I do have my first tri this weekend though, so that may change ;)
I am no swimmer...but when I was injured in college I swam a lot in recovery from knee surgery. I don't have an embarassing story, I have a good story and I am entering this for my friend Jill who is doing her first Tri this weekend.

My husband is ATHLETIC and can pretty much beat me in ANYTHING...but of course he is nice and often lets me win.

WE went to the lake and planned to swim across the small lake to get to a rope swing. We started out and before I knew it I was ALONE.. I doggy paddled and noticed my fit man STRUGGLING!! I had found the one sport that I ROCKED in.. That was a fun day..

FUn contest..
Great idea! This happened to my husband (not me) but I was there to witness it...

For the 2008 Gulf Coast 70.3 I was supposed to be a part of a relay but was also doing the entire 70.3. Because the relay heats were totally last, I wasn't too thrilled about doing it. So I dropped out of the relay to focus on my race and my husband Scott volunteered to do the bike and swim.

Since he wasn't planning on swimming, he had no goggles, wetsuit, shorts...nada....He didn't want to blow excessive cash so he just bought a super-tiny speedo.... (and did the whole swim in that) It was HILARIOUS!

Probably doesn't sound too funny.... but this time of the year the water is still a lil cold and everyone else was wearing full wetsuits. He stuck out like a sore thumb. I wish I could post the pictures. They definitely do the story more justice... He would probably kill me....

I'm running low on women's swim caps ;) so here goes,

Back in the early 90s I used to do Escape for Alcatraz in a prison striped wetsuit. As my motto goes "Take it easy. Embrace and enjoy the day" and that is exactly what I would do. Some might have considered embarassing getting out of the water at Aquatic Park in a prison wetsuit to the stares of the crowd, but not me....
