Bungee Straps and Triathlete 4 Life...

Thanks to a few fellow bloggers suggestions... I can now do my daily blog posting... thanks guys :)

Bungee Straps... A MUST for your goggles


Used to work at a swim store... by now I woulda thought how great bungee straps for goggles were... esp since that's all I ever sold as replacement goggle straps to well... everyone. Well I finally listened to my own advice... broke down... and bought a pair. The best $5 ever spent. First off... compared to a regular rubber or siliconeish goggle strap... they don't break... at all! Second... they work with just about any goggle... whether the TYR Nest Pros... Speedo GCG... or Aquasphere Kaiman's... just to name a few! Third... they are easily adjustable... no hassle at all. Fourth... they come in a wide variety of colors... I chose pink to match my goggles. Go out and get a pair! I promise you'll never go back to that breakable rubber or siliconeish goggle strap :)

Blog Name... Triathlete 4 Life

Hasn't come up very often but every once in a while I am asked how I decided to go with the blog name of Triathlete 4 Life... simple... that's cause it's me. I am a "Triathlete 4 Life". I was fortunate to start this sport as a 19 year old college student trying to find time to waste on the days where I had nothing to do... never imagining I would earn an MDot... and even be nicknamed "The Champ" by a fellow triathlete and good friend! I'm going into my 6th season this year as a triathlete... now more a veteran than a newbie... hoping to aim high once again in my dreams and goals as an amateur. I see no stopping from here on out... with this sport. I intend to do traithlon as long as I can swim... even meaning one day floating on my back... cycling... even being the last one off as compared to the tops ones... and walking.... as opposed to running or jogging! So there ya go... Triathlete 4 Life it is!

I wish I'd started doing this at a younger age. Just last year I found out that my college had a Triathlon club that they started the summer after I left... lame!

Something Special Was Going To Happen I'm a little late to post (I was hoping to get it done over the weekend but life happened) this very exciting blog post but here it is. Coming Up...

In many ways oh so soon! First up USA Triathlon Nationals in Milwaukee WI. In T-Minus (gulp) 9 days I'll be swimming .9 miles aka 1500 meters aka 1.5km in a protected area of Lake Michigan. But for those who know me well; I'll be swimming more than a mile because LOL I can't swim straight and follow the buoys and to add to that I have to breathe to my right which NO WAY Jose isn't what I do best. After the swim portion; I'll take off my swim cap and goggles; put on my bike helmet, sunglasses, socks, bike shoes on before I un-rack Zoom 2.0 and we head out for a nice and (hopefully crossing your fingers) speedy and fast 25 miles aka 40km bike through the streets of Milwaukee. I've heard from those who've down Nationals in Milwaukee in past years that the course is fast (minus all the sharp u-turns for turnaround points) and it's mostly flat (minus this bridge we go over). My I Can Do Hard Things Swimming Edition

I would have never imagined that the 200 butterfly would become my all time favorite go to masters swim meet event. As a young reluctant swimmer; joining a local summer league swim team in Maryland in 1993, I had the hardest time learning to swim breaststroke. Once my breaststroke was legal; I swam it at swim meets, it became my go to swim meet stroke. But  now the question was; how would I learn to swim butterfly? I loved how graceful butterfly was but didn't take the initiative to learn the stroke until my second or third summer swimming; which would have been 1994 or 1995. I learned how to swim the butterfly but was nervous to swim it; especially at swim meets of any kind whether on summer league (while still living in Maryland), at both year round club and high school swim meets (both when I was in Texas) so I never swam it. It wasn't until the mid 2000s when I was swimming on masters (age 18 and over) swim teams that I started to think about conquering my fear of swimming
