The Broken Mile

Talk about mental toughness in head! That's what you get when you swim the broken mile in the pool. A total of 66 laps broken into 11 segments. I swim it in the following way...

7 laps
rest 10 secs
6 laps
rest 10 secs
5 laps
rest 10 secs
4 laps
rest 10 secs

Personally... I was doing just fine mentally and physically until I got down to 6 laps. From 11 laps down to 7 laps I was able to just swim along fine while focusing on high elbows, bilateral breathing, streamlining past the flags, and keeping my head from bobbling around. But once I got down to 6 laps... my mind went crazy! All the sudden my mind is telling me stop and just give in. I fight with my mind telling it that there is nothing more than 6 laps... but it seems to not care. Though I continue on... everything with my swimming technique is totally out of sync. But when I charge the wall the wall to finish that last 25... that last lap... it feels great.
