Motivated...

The key word of this week... whether training or just life in general... and really it's been great... great I tell you :)

As far as training goes... wow what a week it has been. Every morning I have woken up with a splitting headache and want to roll back under the covers... but nope... not gonna happen.

Swimming has not been about making intervals... keeping up with everyone who is meters ahead of me... but it's been about the Go The Distance Challenge that United States Masters Swimming holds every year. Since January I have been keeping track of the distance (yards or meters) I complete at every swim practice. The distance goes into a spreadsheet that calculates the total mileage I swim per month. Every month I then submit my mileage to the person in charge. Though my mileage is alot less than I expected it to be the competition the Women 18-24 is pretty strong. Currently I am in second out of six girls... second by a good 150 miles for the year but only out of third by over a 20 something odd miles come June. The motivation and the goal is to stay in SECOND throughout the year... shine as I enter my last season in this wonderful age group :)

Cycling... the current goal is get motivated! Any suggestions????

Running is where my motivation has started to build up. With CDA done and in the bag the motivation... the next big goal for 2008 is running a sub 3:40 at White Rock Dec 14 and getting to Boston... or else. After droppig a whopping 46 minutes from 2006 to 2007 at White Rock and missing Boston by that much... hell yeah I'm doing it this year. My interval/ track workouts have been coming together nicely. Haven't been able to stay with the pack the whole time... but the distance hasn't been far. My breathing has been out of control by the end of the workouts and I've ended up drop dead on the grass... but I'm there... doing it! My long runs are pulling together nicely. Three weeks post CDA I did a 17 mile run with a friend. It was slow... and boy was it long... but I can do the mileage without any hesitation. I still have way over four months till White Rock... but this year it's more important than ever to make Boston. I'm gonna do it... no stopping me!

More to come...

I find getting motivated for cycling tough sometimes. Something I've found that helps is to have a purpose - or a goal - on my cycling trips. Be it a place or something that I'm trying to get to. For you, since IMCDA is over - just go out and have fun. Pick a rough milage, go online and find a good little food place in that town/city, and then bike to it. Get something to eat and then bike back. Presto!

I'm with ya on making Boston! As soon as IMC is over in 4 weeks, it's ALL about BQ! (No relation to BK..the King)
